What is Rooibos tea?

Rooibos is a South African red tea.
Grown exclusively in a small area in the Cederberg region of the Western Cape province, Rooibos tea is the national drink and is appreciated in many countries around the world for its antioxidant properties and lack of caffeine.
Oxidation produces the reddish-brown Rooibos leaves (you can also find unoxidized green Rooibos). Rooibos is habitually taken with milk and sugar in South Africa, though the naked tea has a sweet, nutty taste. In trendy South African cafes, you can now find Rooibos "espressos," red lattes and red cappuccinos.
