ingredients
2 ounces English dry gin
1 1/2 ounces fresh orange juice
2 dashes grenadine
2 dashes absinthe or other anise-flavored liquor, such as Pernod or Ricard
Ice
Orange twist

total: 5 minutes

chilled cocktail glass
instructions
Shake gin, orange juice, grenadine and anise-flavored liquor very well with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

I love the idea of this cocktail with a funkier gin, like Hendrick's. It may fight the sweet anise resin-y taste for a moment or two...but I think the cucumber mellowness might be a nice flavor. In any case, I think this is on my list for next summer!
