A true Martini is made with gin and vermouth garnished with an olive or a twist. Since the Vesper has vodka as well as Lillet, it naturally follows that this superb cocktail is not a Martini.

ingredients
3 ounces Bombay or Beefeater gin
1 ounce vodka (from grain)
1/2 ounce Lillet Blanc
Ice
Twist of lemon peel

instructions
Add gin, vodka and Lillet to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel.
