Bloody Mary

makes 1 drink
Recipe from Rob Chirico

Originally a blend of tomato juice and vodka, the Bloody Mary has taken to include ingredients as diverse as basil and roasted garlic. I stick with a pretty classic version -- no big surprises.

This recipe comes from Rob Chirico's Hair of the Dog. For more of Rob's great cocktails, buy his Field Guide to Cocktails.

ingredients

2 ounces vodka
4 ounces tomato juice
1/2 teaspoon good horseradish
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3 dashes Tabasco sauce
1 pinch coarse salt or sea salt
1 pinch freshly ground pepper
1/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 pinch celery salt or seeds, crushed
Ice
1 lime wedge
1 lemon wedge
1 celery stalk (optional)

instructions

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker over ice and roll very gently to blend. Strain over ice into a highball glass. Garnish with a wedge each of lemon and lime. If you are hungry, add a tender celery stalk.
