This was my first experience with making dumplings and they came out great! I loved the little noodles in the mixture and they had a great flavor. I was able to find garlic chives at the Chinese market but regular chives would be good too.

Pho, or phở, is incredibly simple to make. You can use beef broth, but you'll get much flavor if you use a rich consommé. You may be able to find it frozen, but it is only time consuming, not difficult, to make at home.

These Taiwanese Ji Juan are not exactly Lor Bak (Malaysian five-spice pork rolls), but the principle is basically the same -- protein (meat) wrapped with bean curd skin and deep-fried to perfection.
