Southern Boiled Shrimp
serves 4-6
Here's a simple way to enjoy the best fresh shrimp you can find. Crab boil gives them southern flavor, and quick cooking keeps them moist. Keep the shrimp on ice until you're ready to drop them into the pot.
2-3 pounds shrimp
2 lemons
1 bag Crab Boil
1 tablespoon kosher salt
prep: 5 minutes
total: 10 minutes
large pot
colander
1. Bring 2 gallons of water to a boil. When the water boils, quarter the lemons, squeeze them into the water and toss the squeezed lemons into the pot. Add the packet of crab boil and salt, and boil the mixture for 10 minutes.
2. Add the unpeeled shrimp to the water and stir. Bring the water back to a boil. Boil the shrimp for one minute. Drain the shrimp in a colander, then spread them out onto a platter or newspaper to cool.
