total: 2 hours 15 minutes

1. Place all the ingredients in the bread machine container and process on the dough cycle until dough forms a slightly tacky (but not sticky) ball. Adjust with more flour or lager, if necessary.
2. Preheat oven to 325F.
3. When the dough cycle is complete, transfer dough to a lightly oiled surface and divide into 2 pieces. Let rest 10 minutes.
4. Roll 1 piece of dough to a 15x8-inch rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. Using a pizza wheel, cut dough lengthwise into 10 pieces about 1/2-inch wide. Sprinkle with cumin seeds, if desired.
5. Place on a lightly oiled baking sheet, cover loosely with lightly oiled wax paper and let rise about 30 minutes or until puffy. Repeat with second piece of dough.
6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to cooling rack.
