Yellow Layer Cake

Baking spray or butter and flour for greasing and flouring cake pan
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 egg yolks
3 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/3 cups milk

total: 50 minutes

1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour or coat cake pans with baking spray.
2. In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and egg yolks and mix until well-combined. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking powder. In a small bowl, add the vanilla to the milk. Mixing continuously, add the flour and milk alternately to the butter, sugar and egg mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
3. Divide batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack, removing from the pans after about 5 minutes. Cool completely then top with desired frosting.
