Cookthink at The Kitchn
June 30th, 2008
We loved The Kitchn when it was a mere twinkle in Apartment Therapy’s eye, so we were delighted to see Emma’s post about Cookthink on Friday. Thanks for the love, Kitchn, and for really helpful posts like this one about which foods you can carry on the plane. We’re flying south tomorrow–our first trip since Angus has learned to crawl and snatch–so the food we take also needs to have very few moving parts. Suggestions?

Right back at ya, CookThink! And have fun on your trip! My favorite airplane food is always a chickpea salad–just a can of chickpeas with good olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, Parmesan cheese, and a handful of dried cranberries.
Happy flying!

Sandwiches (halved for easy handling of baby and food at the same time),
nuts, chunks of cheese & crackers (and maybe salami or ham), pretzels & tiny jar of mustard (mustard’s good with cheese/cracker combo too), dried apricots or fruit of choice.
Grapes, apples, oranges, baby carrots, red pepper strips. Yogurt.
Cookies. Chocolate.
Juice boxes under 4oz. (I know, it’s a big pain)
Orzo (rice or other grain)/chickpea or bean salad (no mayo). (nods to Emma’s suggestion)
Teething bisquits for Angus to chew on.
Have a safe and happy trip!
