Like us, you’ve probably used cinnamon and nutmeg interchangeably. But what exactly is cinnamon? And what is nutmeg? And how are cinnamon and nutmeg different?
What’s the difference between cinnamon and nutmeg?

I can’t *imagine* using cinnamon and nutmeg interchangeably! The flavour is completely different. (Also, I can’t eat nutmeg myself because I have a weird intolerance to it, it makes me dizzy, so I use a pinch of mace when I want the flavour.)
What on earth are you talking about? I’m going to hazard a guess here, chip, and say that no one is like you…
I’m going to have to “third” the sense of shock. I read this and thought, I’ve never used them interchangeably. They’re both very distinctive. As far as my tastes go, you pretty much can’t have too much cinnamon, but a little nutmeg goes a long way.
“Interchangeably” was a sloppy word choice. I don’t mean that their flavors are the same, only that in the absence of one I’ve used the other. No, not in the same amounts. No, not with the expectation of similar outcomes. Just: if I don’t one on hand, the other will do as a warm, wintry spice.
